Here are a few pictures of the new member of our household:  Rosalita, or as we call her, Rosie.

Rosie's a Corgi mix and rescued shelter dog from Delaware Puppy Rescue, who specialize in rescuing pregnant dogs and their puppies from shelters and placing them in permanent homes.

A victim of animal cruelty in a violent household, Rosie is just over a year old and has already had two litters of puppies - most recently in late December 2008.  Delaware Puppy Rescue saved Rosie from a Virginia shelter, placed her in a foster home, and paid for the emergency delivery of her puppies (who are in the process of being adopted now). 

Rosie's quite a catch:  she's fun, smart, affectionate, and well-mannered.  We think she's da bomb!  

the wrestler

All of the hype you've heard about Mickey Rourke's performance in "The Wrestler" is true.  We saw the movie on Valentine's day, and it was terrific.  Sure, the guy's had a boatload of plastic surgery over the years, but Rourke's portrayal of a down-and-out wrestler is as good as it gets. 

early spring?

We know it's only the beginning of February, and Punxsutawny Phil has a monopoly such things, but today we discovered our own indicator of an early spring - when no fewer than half a dozen bluebirds appeared on our property.

In our world, if a bluebird sees his shadow on February 1st - spring's gotta be right around the corner!
