Saw Capitalism:  A Love Story this weekend at the Angelika Film Center in New York City.  You've gotta go see this film.

food inc. the movie - coming soon to a theatre near you

Here's an update on Food Inc., a new documentary about the ugly realities of our agricultural system.  The film will open in select theaters on June 12th, and comes to the Ritz in Philly June 19th.  Keep an eye on the Food Inc. website for updates on when the film will be playing near you.

This looks like a great new documentary, co-produced by Eric Schlosser of Fast Food Nation fame. 

the wrestler

All of the hype you've heard about Mickey Rourke's performance in "The Wrestler" is true.  We saw the movie on Valentine's day, and it was terrific.  Sure, the guy's had a boatload of plastic surgery over the years, but Rourke's portrayal of a down-and-out wrestler is as good as it gets. 

slumdog millionaire

We saw an incredible movie over the weekend called "Slumdog Millionaire."  It's shot and set in Mumbai, India, about a former street child who makes it to the Hindi version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" He's made it to the last question and has been accused of cheating. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted (a good percentage of it is in Hindi and by children), and with a great soundtrack, it's well worth your time and money. (Its goriness is so realistic in parts that a good half dozen people left the movie halfway through.) For more of the plot, check out Wikipedia.

SiCKO

On Friday, Rick dragged us to our seats for opening night of "SiCKO":  Michael Moore's new documentary about the U.S. health care industry.

Polarizing?  Of course - we'd expect nothing less.  Persuasive?  Absolutely.  Surprisingly funny at times, too.

Go see the movie.  And don't get sick.
